BACKGROUND. half-polish, half-japanese. an orphan who no one would miss. as a child, underwent an aptitude test administered by arasaka to train to become a netrunner. alongside twelve other children, she was shackled by a dream to "serve the world's most powerful megacorp." at an undisclosed location, they were sent on deep dives to mine the pre-datakrash internet where they were attacked by old world demons and rogue AIs. many were killed. once understanding the power they held, lucy and the few children who remained overwhelmed arasaka staff and escaped. all were shot down save lucy, who ran and ran without looking back. she awoke in a junkyard and roamed from place to place until she arrived in night city. she was taken in by a netrunner named kiwi and introduced to maine and his crew of cyberpunks — edgerunners — and became their backup netrunner.
